Axelle de Russé

Born in France and raised in several countries as Libya, France and Chile, Axelle de Russé is a freelance photojournalist, feature and documentary photographer based in Paris. Axelle studied business before starting her career at Sipa Press as an editor and ultimately as a photographer.

Axelle works on assignment for various prestigious publications including Paris Match, Le Figaro Magazine, La Republica, Corriere de la Serra, El Pais ... and has covered news stories including presidential elections, riots, and numerous other feature stories. Ms. de Russé won the Canon female photojournalist award in 2007 for a long term project that focuses on a story about concubines in China. In 2008 she won the SCAM grant and the CNC grant for her web documentary on concubines in China. This work has been exhibited in many countries around the world and in prestigious photography festivals as The International Photojournalism Festival of Perpignan - Visa pour l’Image in France.

A woman of the world, Axelle has worked on assignment in many countries including China, Venezuela, Mexico, France, India, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, and Kenya. Most recently, she covered an important story about the day to day life of Salafists in France.
